Mini World

Mini World is the home of all our minature Shetland ponies. These ponies may be very small in stature, but they are very big in character! A must visit if you come to Brickfields.

Shetlands are probably the strongest member of the equine world in relation to their size. The standard Shetland can measure up to 42 inches at the wither, but the minatures that we breed must not exceed 34 inches. The miniatures are quite often mistaken for Falabellas, which are a breed of miniature horse originally bred in Argentina, and they should not exceed 30 inches.

We have been breeding minis for a number of years now; we would average three of four foals a year. The idea is to sell them, but one or two manage to stay with us! The oldest mare that we breed from Sylvie, who is 18 this year, is now a great, great, great grandmother and still a wonderful mother.
